"Udupi" a famous South Karnataka's pilgrimage center known for its hospitality and vegetarian cuisine. "Udupi" the name derived from an original Sanskrit name Udupa (Udu-"Star"+ Pa- "Lord"). So the lords of stars namely moon. "Udupi" also mean boat or raft in Sanskrit.
