Perched at an altitude of 625 metres, Lonavala is an idyllic hill resort in the state of Maharashtra. Lonavala is located in the western part of the state. The hill station stands on the western ranges of the Shayadri Hills and is a popular health resort. The beautiful hill station is surrounded by numerous lakes. Tugauli, Lonavala and Bhushi lakes are worth paying a visit to. The hill station provides a bird's eye view of the Shayadri ranges. A big part of Mumbai comes here to relax, escaping the fast-paced life of the city. Exquisite waterfalls, lush greenery and the rolling hills rope in a huge number of tourists from all over. Trekking and hiking are added advantages.

Climate of Lonavala
Lonavala experiences a pleasant climate throughout the year except the monsoon months. Summers are mild and winters are cool. April to June are the summer months. Winter continues from November to February. Heavy southwestern monsoons arrive between June and September. October to May is the best time to visit the hill station.

Major Tourist Attractions of Lonavala
Bhaja and Karla Caves
- Bhaja and Karla are rock-cut cave temples that are located at a distance of 11km from Lonavala. The history of the caves date back to the 2nd century. These rock-cut temples are amongst the finest examples of Buddhist architecture in India.

Tugauli, Lonavala and Bhushi Lakes - Around Lonavala are the Tagauli, Lonavala and Bhushi Lakes. The lakes impart astound beauty to the area and add to everyone's charm.

Walvan Dam - The Walvan Dam is a must-visit site for the visitors. The dam makes a brilliant sight for the onlookers .

Kaivalyadhama Yoga Hospital - The Kaivalyadhama Yoga Hospital, founded in 1924, is located at a distance of 2 km from Lonaval en route Karla and Bhaja Caves. The hospital attracts both locals and foreigners alike. Various yoga courses are conducted here.
